Browse and create avatars
Use filters such as gender, age, and ethnicity to browse available avatars. Use Create from Scratch when the campaign needs a new presenter direction.
Create from Scratch opens the Avatar Appearance modal. This is where you define the face or presenter image before the avatar is saved to the team library.

In the Avatar Appearance modal you can:
- Choose AI Generate to create a new avatar image from a prompt.
- Choose Use My Image to upload and crop an existing presenter image.
- Select the image generation model.
- Select the aspect ratio, such as 9:16 Portrait for vertical video.
- Upload optional reference images when the selected model supports references.
- Write a prompt or enhance the prompt before generation.
- Preview the generated or uploaded avatar on the right side.
- Save the result with Set Avatar Profile.
The mouth must be visible because the avatar can be used for speaking video creative. If the image is cropped too tightly, hidden by an object, or angled so the mouth is not clear, create or upload a cleaner presenter image before saving.
Choose reusable presenters
Keep avatar assets aligned with brand tone, audience expectations, and campaign format. Reuse consistent presenters when continuity matters across a set of ads.
Browse tab
Browse shows the available avatar library. Use gender, age, ethnicity, and search filters to narrow the list. Avatar cards can be saved to the team library or customized when plan limits allow it.
Library tab
Library shows avatars already saved or created for the team. Use it to find presenters that are approved for reuse in future video ads.
Custom avatar limits
Custom avatar creation is plan-gated. If the team reaches its custom avatar limit, Playad opens an upgrade flow instead of the creation modal.
Use avatars in creative creation
Saved avatars become reusable presenter options for UGC-style video generation. In a Creative Set, the UGC Ad flow can use Avatar Studio assets as the spokesperson layer while the script, voice, scene structure, and storyboard are generated from the campaign brief.
