Ad Localization: Adapt Image Copy for a New Language
Translate the headline and CTA in a static image ad into a target language while keeping your product, logo and layout intact. Start in Chat.
Trusted by 6,000+ marketers & founders
Use ad localization when an accepted image creative needs different wording for a new language and market. Start in Playad Chat with the source ad, identify the visible copy to translate and name the product and brand details to preserve. Review the proposed Flow, then inspect the actual localized image for meaning, fit and product accuracy. Each language and size is a separate deliverable. This guide focuses on adapting still-image creative; campaign targeting and the destination page need their own review.
What you can do
Translate visible ad copy only
Identify the headline, supporting copy and CTA that should change. If packaging or legal text must remain as supplied, say so explicitly. Give approved translations when you already have them, or ask for draft wording and review it with a fluent speaker before using it in the creative.
Preserve layout, product, and brand identity
Use the accepted ad as the reference and state what should stay consistent: product appearance, logo, layout and visual hierarchy. Generated edits can still alter protected details, so compare the actual image with the source. A translation that fits the space but changes the product or message is not ready to use.
Separate deliverable per language and size
Each target language is produced as a distinct Creation. If you also need the localized version in additional placements — for example, square and story — each size is generated as its own deliverable, keeping your originals separate and your Creations library organized.
Flag offers that need local review
Include market-specific facts in the request: which offer applies, what wording is approved and what remains uncertain. You can ask Chat to list questions for your team, but its suggestions do not establish local eligibility or approval. Confirm any unresolved claim before putting it in the localized creative.
Review before finalizing
Generated localized images are inspected against the brief before delivery. You can review the result in the conversation, request a correction to a specific line, or ask Chat to adjust text weight or placement if natural line length in the target language differs from the original.
How it works
1. Open Chat and select the correct brand
Choose New Chat from the sidebar. Confirm the team and brand are set to the one whose creative you are localizing, so brand context — colors, logo, tone — is available to the edit.
2. Provide the source image and describe the request
Upload or reference the accepted static image ad you want to localize. State the target language, the target market, and which text elements to translate. For example: 'Localize the headline and CTA in this ad into French for France. Keep the product label and logo unchanged. Flag any offer that needs local confirmation.'
3. Answer any clarifying questions
Resolve the language variant and market, such as Spanish for Spain, as well as any approved terminology. List the versions you need and distinguish translated ad copy from original packaging text that should stay unchanged. If a target is unclear, settle it before generating the image.
4. Review the proposed Flow and confirm
Open the proposed Flow and check the correct source, text changes and output settings. Ask for corrections if a required preservation instruction or language version is missing. Follow the current review and generation controls and inspect returned media; approving the plan alone does not complete the image.
5. Inspect the localized image and request corrections
Review the returned image against the brief: check that translated copy reads naturally, that the original packaging and logo are intact, and that text fits the layout. If a line is too long for the space or a translation needs adjustment, describe the specific change in Chat and a corrected version will be produced.
6. Find completed deliverables in Creations
Each accepted localized image is saved as a Creation under the same brand. Open Creations, filter by the relevant type, and download the files. If you requested multiple sizes, each combination appears as its own entry.
Using Playad: product screens
Example request
Localize the visible headline and CTA in this image ad into Spanish for Spain. Preserve the product label, logo and layout. Flag any offer that needs local confirmation.
Hypothetical example: a desk bottle ad in Spanish for Spain
Illustrative example — not a product screenshot or customer result
Input: A hypothetical bottle brand has an accepted English image with the headline “Make room for a refill,” a “Shop the bottle” CTA and an authentic product photograph. The logo and original product label must remain as supplied.
Language brief: Request Spanish for Spain and a natural advertising phrase that keeps the refill idea. Ask to translate only the headline and CTA, preserve the product and logo, and return one square image first.
Copy review: A fluent reviewer checks the suggested Spanish wording for meaning, tone and local usage before approving it. They also confirm that the product and offer are available in the intended market.
Image review: Compare the actual output with the source. Check the logo, label, product shape, accents, line breaks and headline legibility. If translated text is crowded, request shorter approved wording or a specific layout adjustment.
Versions: After the language version passes review, request any additional supported sizes and inspect those files separately. This is a hypothetical review method, not a completed localization or a guarantee of unchanged pixels.
Before you start
Scope is static image ads only. Video dubbing, subtitle replacement, and audio localization are not part of this workflow.
Translated copy is a strong starting point, but natural fluency and regulatory compliance require native human review before the ad goes live.
Explicitly identify product labels, logos and any other text that must remain in the original form. Check the returned image instead of relying on a default preservation assumption.
Currency conversion, campaign locale settings, and localized landing pages are outside this workflow's scope.
Not every language or script is guaranteed to render with identical text weight and spacing as the original; line-length differences in the target language may require a layout adjustment.
This workflow does not claim full coverage of all world languages. Confirm availability for a specific language in Chat.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I start a localization request?
Start in Chat. Upload or reference the source image, describe the target language and market, and specify which text elements to translate. Chat proposes a Flow for the edit, and you can review it before generation runs.
Will the product packaging or logo be changed?
Ask to preserve the original product and logo, and specify whether packaging text should stay in its source language. Compare those details with the actual edited image. A preservation instruction guides the model; it does not guarantee that every pixel or letter remains unchanged.
Can I localize one ad into several languages at once?
You can list multiple target languages in a single Chat request. Each language is produced and saved as a separate Creation. If you also need different sizes per language, each combination is its own deliverable.
Where do I find the completed localized images?
Accepted localized images are saved to Creations under the same team and brand used for the request. Open Creations, use the Type filter to narrow the list to images, and download the files you need. You can also reopen the original Chat conversation to find the results in context.
