The useful first ad is one you can explain, inspect and learn from. If you run a small business without a designer, start with a real product, a confirmed offer and a clear customer. Playad lets you describe an image or video ad in Chat, review the proposed flow and continue in Flow Editor or Projects on desktop. Creations holds the resulting media for preview and download. Use that workflow to make a focused creative test. A small set of purposeful options is easier to evaluate than a collection of polished ads with different messages, audiences and offers mixed together.
What you can do
Turn the materials you already have into a brief
A product photograph, approved wording and a working destination give the request a concrete starting point. Select the brand, start Chat and describe the customer, product, message and intended placement or size. Add reference material when useful, and explain which details must remain accurate. Brand context can help organize the work, but you should still state the current offer and any restrictions. A website may describe your business without settling what this particular ad should communicate.
Develop creative options around a testable difference
Ask for image or video concepts that answer one question, such as which headline angle makes the offer clearer. Hold the product, offer and destination steady while requesting the intended variation. Review the proposed flow before continuing and inspect generated output when it is available. The request describes what you want to test; it does not guarantee that the output preserves every detail correctly. Your review determines whether a creative is suitable to use.
Keep editable work separate from finished media
Projects is where you reopen associated editable work, including Flow projects, on desktop. Creations is where you find generated media, imported files and editor exports for the brand. An output with an associated project may offer Open in editor; other files can become input for a new project or revision request. Understanding that distinction makes ad creation tools for small business more useful: you know where to change the source and where to inspect the file you actually intend to download.
How it works
1. Prepare a minimal asset pack
Gather a product photo you have permission to use, the exact product name, the confirmed offer and a destination that matches it. Add any logo or visual reference that matters for the request. Write down factual restrictions, such as wording you cannot change or packaging details that should remain recognizable. If a presenter, reference image or other material is involved, check the rights and intended use before adding it. Do not invent testimonials to make the brief feel complete.
2. Choose what the first test should teach you
Name a customer and a single communication question. For example, you might compare a convenience-led headline with a product-detail headline while keeping the photo and offer consistent. Specify the intended format and placement rather than asking for an undefined social ad. This is a planning method, not an automatic experiment feature. You still need to inspect the variants and decide how any later campaign will test them.
3. Create the request in Chat and inspect the flow
Select the team and brand, choose New Chat and supply the brief and useful assets. Ask for a proposed image or video flow. Open the flow card to inspect the Flow Preview when it appears, then answer questions about missing information or request changes to the plan. A proposed flow describes the work; it is not a completed output. Follow the current review and generation controls before expecting a finished file.
4. Refine a specific result on desktop
Identify the result you want to change and state the revision precisely: keep the product image, shorten the headline, or change the visual emphasis. Continue in an associated Flow Editor or Project when available. An available image editor conversation can help request a visual revision. Check the new result after the change. Projects is desktop-only; on mobile, use the displayed guidance to continue editing on a computer instead of looking for desktop controls that are not available there.
5. Apply a practical acceptance checklist
Open the resulting media in Creations for the same brand. Confirm that the product looks correct, the offer is current, the text is readable and the format fits the intended placement. Preview the actual image or video, including its opening and closing content where relevant. Compare each variant with the original brief and check that the intended difference is meaningful. Download the reviewed file when available. If you later select Launch, inspect the separate campaign request before treating the creative as a live ad.
Using Playad: product screens

Example request
Create two square image ad concepts using this product photo and confirmed offer for first-time buyers. Keep the product details and offer unchanged, vary the headline angle, and show the proposed flow for review. Ask me about anything needed before generation.
Example: testing the message for a homeware product
Illustrative example — not a product screenshot or customer result
Hypothetical input: a small homeware business supplies a product photo, the approved product description and its current offer. It wants square image concepts for first-time buyers.
Creative question: one concept emphasizes everyday convenience and another explains a specific product detail. The owner asks to keep the photo, offer and destination consistent so the communication difference is understandable.
Acceptance review: the owner checks product appearance, exact wording, readability and placement fit. A generated concept that changes the packaging or invents a benefit is revised before use.
The example illustrates brief preparation and review. It is not a customer campaign, a measured experiment or a promise that either concept will outperform the other.
Before you start
Generated work can require corrections. Review product details, claims, visual consistency and media rights before using an output.
Creating a flow is separate from completing media generation. Check the conversation or editor for generation and export progress.
Projects and Flow Editor work described here use desktop editing. The available actions depend on the file and its associated project.
A file in Creations is not necessarily running as an ad. Campaign setup and launch are separate workflows with account, destination and spending details to review.
Frequently asked questions
What should I provide before asking for an ad?
Provide the product, intended customer, confirmed message or offer, format and placement. Add product images or references when useful, and state which facts must remain unchanged. Chat can then ask about gaps in a brief that is grounded in your business.
Can I make video ads as well as images?
The documented Chat workflow supports requests for image and video ads. Specify the type you need and review the proposed flow and available generation options. Media requirements and the current workflow determine what inputs and review steps are needed.
Where do I find the editable source and the output?
Use Projects to reopen associated editable work on desktop, and Creations to inspect generated media and exports. An output may offer Open in editor when it has an associated editable project. If it does not, ask Chat to use the file as input for new work or a revision.
How do I avoid making lots of ads without learning anything?
Write the question the creative test should answer before generating options. Request a deliberate difference while keeping the other relevant inputs consistent, then inspect whether the outputs follow that brief. Assess campaign results separately; generating variants does not itself prove a fair test or a winning message.
