An ad resizer helps an accepted image creative travel to new dimensions. In Playad, start in Chat with your static source image and a list of target ratios or pixel sizes. Ask to preserve the product, logo and approved wording, then review the proposed Flow and each completed variant. This workflow is useful when your concept is already settled but a different canvas needs a new crop or layout. It focuses on image ads; the original file remains the reference for the adaptations.

What you can do

Source-first Flow structure

Your accepted image ad is set as the source node in a Flow. All resize steps connect to it, so the original is always visible and is never overwritten. If the source is already saved in Creations or Projects, Chat can reference it directly; if you are uploading it fresh, attach it in the conversation. This structure makes it easy to trace each output back to the approved original.

Named target output list

List the target outputs before running: placement, ratio or supported pixel dimensions, and any safe-space requirements you already know. Check that each planned variant corresponds to a real deliverable you need. A descriptive naming convention is your own organization practice; verify dimensions on the actual returned file.

Crop and layout adaptation per placement

Ask for a composition that suits the new canvas rather than a stretched source. State whether repositioning the logo or copy is acceptable while protecting their content and legibility. Inspect narrow and tall versions independently: a sensible crop in one ratio can hide the product or headline in another.

Protected copy, logo, and product

Your brief should state which elements are fixed: the headline text, the logo placement, and the product itself. The Flow treats these as protected. When you review the proposed steps before running, you can verify that the brief has recorded the right constraints. If copy, logo, or product drift in a generated variant during QA, the Flow can run a targeted correction edit referencing the source.

Per-placement review before download

After the Flow runs, each sized variant is available to review individually in Chat or in the Flow editor before you download or use it. Reviewing every placement — not just the first one — catches composition problems that may appear only at a specific ratio. Accepted variants are saved as Creations with the dimensions recorded, so your file list reflects what was actually produced.

How it works

1. Open Chat and name your source

Start a new Chat for the correct team and brand. In your first message, identify the source image: either attach it directly or name the Creation or project it lives in. State that this is an approved static image and that you want size variants, not a new concept. This keeps the conversation scoped to adaptation rather than generation.

2. List the target formats and protected elements

List each target ratio or pixel size and the elements to protect: product identity, exact headline wording and logo legibility. Confirm that the requested settings are supported in the proposed Flow. For very wide strip banners above 3:1, automatic adaptation is unreliable; resolve a suitable approach before running that format.

3. Review the proposed Flow before running

Chat will propose a Flow that shows the source node, the list of resize or adaptation steps, and the named output nodes for each format. Open the Flow card to review the plan. Approving the Flow is a review step, not the completion of generation — the images are not yet produced at this point. Confirm the target list and protected elements match your brief, then continue.

4. Run the Flow and inspect each variant

Once you confirm the plan, the Flow runs and produces each sized variant. When results are ready, review them one by one. Check that the product is fully visible and not clipped, that the logo appears at an appropriate size for the new canvas, and that the headline is legible. Flag any variant that has a composition problem before moving to download.

5. Request targeted corrections if needed

If a specific variant has an issue — the product is cropped too tight in the 9:16 version, for example — describe the correction in Chat and reference the specific format. The Flow can run a correction edit on that output using the source as reference, without touching the other accepted variants. You do not need to restart the whole batch for a single fix.

6. Find completed variants in Creations

Find the completed image outputs in Creations for the selected brand. Check actual dimensions and preview each file before downloading. Name or organize variants so you can match them to intended placements. If an output is missing, inspect the run state and filters rather than assuming the batch completed.

Example request

Adapt this approved image ad for three formats: 1:1 square, 4:5 portrait, and 9:16 vertical. Keep the product, logo, and exact headline in every version. Confirm the target dimensions and protected elements before building the size variants.

Hypothetical example: a skincare product launch ad

Illustrative example — not a product screenshot or customer result

Input: A hypothetical bottle brand supplies an approved landscape image with its real product, logo and the headline “Make room for a refill.” It requests square and portrait variants for planned placements.

Plan review: The brand checks the supported target dimensions and asks to preserve the exact words and product details. Copy and logo may move to keep the composition readable; they should not be stretched or clipped.

Output review: Inspect every variant at its actual size. Compare label and logo detail with the source, check whether the bottle remains fully visible and whether the headline has a clear hierarchy. Request a correction for a specific variant if needed.

Handoff: Match each downloaded file to its intended placement and check the current platform requirements. This hypothetical checklist does not describe completed resized images or guarantee platform acceptance.

Before you start

This workflow covers static image ads only. Video resizing is a separate task not covered here.

Automatic layout adaptation for strip banners and other ratios above 3:1 is unreliable. If you need a format in that range, ask Chat how to handle it before running.

Playad produces images at supported ratio and pixel settings. For exact non-standard pixel dimensions, confirm what is supported before requesting them.

There is no guarantee of zero detail loss when adapting a source to a significantly different ratio. Review every variant individually before use.

The sizes produced are intended to match common placement dimensions, but they are not a guarantee of acceptance by any specific platform. Check each platform's current specifications before uploading.

A larger canvas does not establish that fine source detail remains accurate. Compare lettering, edges and texture in the returned image with the original.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to start in a specific place to resize an image ad?

Start in Chat with the approved image and the formats you need. Ask for size variants and identify what should remain accurate. Review the proposed Flow before continuing; use Projects on desktop to reopen associated editable work when available.

What happens to my original approved image during this process?

The source image is kept as a separate node in the Flow and is not overwritten. All adaptation steps connect to it as a reference. Your approved original stays intact whether it came from Creations, a project, or a direct upload.

Can I resize to any pixel dimension I need?

Use settings supported by the current Flow and check the actual output dimensions. Automatic strip-banner adaptation above 3:1 is unreliable. For an unusual canvas, resolve the target size and composition approach before running, then inspect the returned file rather than relying on a requested label.

How do I find and download each sized variant after the Flow runs?

Look in Creations for the selected brand, preview the completed image variants and download the matching files. Clear restrictive filters if necessary. Compare file dimensions with your requested targets and use the original conversation to check a missing or failed output.
